It's all about the make-up
Do you love make-up? Then this exciting course will develop your skills in make-up application. From natural dewy looks to current and classic make-up trends, this course teaches the art of make-up application, presenting products to clients and audiences to prepare you for work in the make-up industry. You will learn all the tips and tricks by industry make-up artists to catapult you into a career in the make-up industry.
Our course will provide you with formal qualifications and includes the following Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) units:
- Essential make-up skills
- Current Fashion and classic make-up trends
- Presentation and promotional skills
- Work placement – Simulated on campus
You will be assessed on the theoretical aspects of this unit as well as the practical.
Day and time: Weekly, Wednesdays, 6pm to 9pm
Course length: 34 weeks
Start date: 9 September 2024
End date: 8 June 2025
Delivery mode: Face to face, on campus. Online support and materials will be provided via Brightspace, our virtual learning environment.
Equipment: Make-up brushes and products will be available for use on campus; however, recommendations will be made throughout the course on an array of product brands and tools to create industry standard looks. It would be advisable to bring along your own set of make up brushes to classes and recommendations can be made to suit all budgets.
SCQF level: This course represents 30 SCQF credits and is delivered at SCQF level 7.
Cost: £344. Applicants may qualify for part time fee grant funding from SAAS.

Open book research and tasks will be used to assess the theoretical aspects as well as practical assessments throughout the duration of the course. You will be required to undertake some of this study independently.

Course fee: £344
You could be eligible for financial support to pay your course fee if you earn less than £25,000 per annum and meet residency criteria. Find out more about the Student Awards Agency Scotland Part Time Fee Grant.
If you are not eligible for the part time fee grant, you may take advantage of paying your course fees in instalments. Payment can be spread over 3 months, with the first payment of approximately £115 payable before starting the course.
